A MESSAGE OF HOPE

At Bookfriends International, 2008 was a very good year. We continued with our
mission to provide books for African secondary schools. These are textbooks for
classrooms to bolster their curriculum and a rich variety of library books. To
date, forty nine schools and libraries have been provided with treasured books.
Another significant bright spot for Bookfriends in 2008 was a higher level of
volunteer activity. More volunteers of all ages were introduced to the Bookfriends
warehouse and many of those assumed leadership roles contributing
mightily to this large effort.
Truly, it is what allows the mission and philosophy of Bookfriends International to
bloom and grow. Thousands and thousands of books were processed so
efficiently and carefully that only good, wholesome books, very usable both in
classrooms and in libraries, were packed into the containers and shipped to their
waiting destinations.
We ask that you consider joining with us as you are able and make this mission
yours. Yes, we are helping to educate young Africans and along the way,
empowering them to reach their God‐given potential. But the effect will be much
longer and wider.
Real sustainable peace and long term economic growth happen on a foundation
built with individual hearts and minds. A good education system is the genesis of
so much that societies treasure. Accountable government, compassionate health
care, adequate nutrition, and responsible population control will only become
possible as minds are informed and hearts become hopeful.
This is a place where your time, talents, and treasure can yield large multiple
benefits for many children and a world in need.
Warm regards,
